Juliet has a strong affiliation with the Rangitikei region, having grown up on her family sheep and beef station in the Turakina Valley. She enjoys working with farmers and the wider rural network and is passionate about helping turn challenges into opportunities, to progress farming businesses.
Juliet studied Law and a Bachelor of Arts, majoring in Geography. She always had a strong desire to work with the rural industry so focused her skills in the resource management field. She also continued to work on her family’s sheep and beef property throughout her university years, venturing over to Australia to work on a cattle station during her studies too.
Juliet has worked for Horizons Regional Council in consents, then compliance in the dairy sector. Following this, she travelled abroad where she worked as an Enforcement Officer for two years for Wandsworth Borough Council in London. Upon returning home, Juliet returned to Horizons Regional Council as a Senior Compliance Officer, managing the water take programme, for both rural and industry sites. She was then appointed to the role of Rural Advice Manager, leading a small team in the implementation of nutrient management under the One Plan, where an important aspect of the role was working with key industry bodies such as Horticulture NZ and Dairy NZ in policy implementation and environmental initiatives.
